Laying my flesh to rest

Friendless

The most friendless friend of all.
Who can I talk too?
Who can I call?
Who cares enough to let me untwist & unturn,
Cry & groan,
Yell & whisper,
Stare & space out.
Who can I talk too?
Who can I call?
Who understands me enough to listen when I speak,
No cookie cutter response,
But say what’s for me.
I don’t want to be led to a word,
Or encouraged by a phrase,
I don’t what to hear, “they’ll be better days.”
When you sit in an emotion,
Reason goes out the door & all you can see is what you’re looking for.
A friend.
Wipe my tears,
Hold my hand,
Warm embrace,
Right where I stand.
You don’t have to explain,
You don’t have to prove,
You don’t have to wonder if they have a clue.
A clue on what’s next,
Or when this will be over.
A friend’s friend will stick around like no other.
The most friendless friend of all.
The one who needs a hug,
Those are the ones who carry a weight,
Those are the ones who need love.
